| The R. Bruce Matthews Student Assistance Fund was established in 1991 in memory of Bruce Matthews by Jimmie R. Hutchens and Mr. Matthews’s friends and family to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors who attended Courtney Elementary School. Initially the scholarship may provide a $250 non-renewable award for students who will pursue full-time undergraduate degrees from accredited post-secondary institutions, accredited vocation/technical schools, community colleges Scholarships will be applied to cost of tuition, fees, on-campus room and board, books, and other related educational expenses | |

| To receive consideration, applicants must: • be graduating high school seniors who attended Courtney Elementary School for a minimum four (4) years • have a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 • demonstrate financial need, but not restricted to lower incomes | |
