Description:
The Ray and Pearl Sams Scholarship was established in 1999 to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors who attend a Forsyth County high school and reside in the Foundation’s service area. The scholarship may provide a $2,500 renewable (for one additional year) award for students who will pursue full-time undergraduate degrees from accredited post-secondary institutions. High school seniors who are members of First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem are encouraged to apply. Scholarships will be applied to the cost of undergraduate tuition, fees, on-campus room and board, books and other college expenses
Additional Information
To receive consideration, applicants must: • have achieved excellence in school work as evidenced by course selection and grades (minimum cumulative unwieghted GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale through 1st semester of the 12th grade • have participated in school service clubs and/or other school activities • have participated in non-school community service activities • demonstrate good moral character • demonstrate evidence of financial need, but not restricted to lower incomes • be a U.S. citizen
