Established to recognize and reward outstanding undergraduate and graduate school playwrights.
Additional Information
Students at any accredited junior or senior college in the United States or in countries contiguous to the continential United States are eligible to compete, provided their college agrees to participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF). Undergraduate students must be carrying a minimum of six semester hours, graduate students must be carrying a minimum of three semester hours, and continuing part-time students must be enrolled in a regular degree or certificate program. For the Nichael Kanin Playwriting Awards Program, students must submit either one major work or two or more shorter works based on a single theme or encompassed within a unifying framework; all entires must provide a full evening of theater. The wrk must be written while the student was enrolled, and the production must be presented during that period or within two years after enrollment ends. The play selected as the best by the judges is presented at the national festival and its playwright receives this award.
