| Applications should be filed immediately upon receipt of the Distinguished Scholar award. You must sign and return a promissory note agreeing to work as a full-time classroom teacher in a Maryland public school, one year for each year of the award, or repay the scholarship with interest. | |

| Distinguished Scholar recipients are eligible. Must be a Maryland resident planning to enroll in an approved teacher education program. Applicants planning to teach in a critical shortage area will receive priority. | |
