Additional Information
Eligibility requirements: • Be a child (under age of 23) of a Sailor or Marine who died while serving on active duty • Be a child (under age of 23) of a Sailor or Marine who died after retirement • Be an unremarried spouse of a Navy or Marine Corps service member who died as a result of the attack on the USS STARK on May 17, 1987, the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 or Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation New Dawn • DEMONSTRATE FINANCIAL NEED • Be enrolled as a full time student: o during the entire academic year , August-May o pursuing a first undergraduate degree at a post secondary, technical, or vocational institution o institution must participate in the US Department of Education Title IV Financial Aid Programs o institution must be located within the United States o institution must be accredited by a regional/national accrediting agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education • Maintain 2.0 or better GPA on a 4.0 grade scale Program details: • Scholarships range from $500 to $2,500 per academic year • Funds are sent directly to the school • Funds may be use to pay for tuition, books, fees, room, and board • A new Gold Star Scholarship application is required for each academic year
