| The Miss State Scholar Award was established in 1998 as part of the Miss America Organization’s initiative to increase scholarship giving at the state and local levels. An award of $1,000 will be offered to one woman in each state, competing at the state level, for academic excellence. | |

| This competition is opened only to those competing at the state level. State pageant officials are responsible for verifying eligibility of recipients. Each applicant must complete an application, along with a complete, official transcript of grades, as specified on the application form. | |
