| The National Community Service Scholarship was established in 1994 as part of the Miss America initiative to embrace community service as one of the qualities and attributes of Miss America. The Miss America Organization added the $5,000 community service award, which honors women who did not win their state title, yet demonstrated service to their community in exemplary fashion. | |

| Eligible women must have competed at the state level of Miss America competition and must have won that state’s Community Service Award. Women are not eligible for this award if they are selected Miss State. | |
