|The purpose of the New Mexico Nurse Educator Loan-for-Service program is to enhance the ability of college- and university-employed nursing educators to obtain Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. As a condition of each loan, the student shall declare his/her intent to serve in a nurse faculty position in a New Mexico public, post-secondary institution. For every academic year of service, a portion of the loan will be forgiven. If the entire service agreement is fulfilled, 100% of the loan is eligible for forgiveness. Penalties may be assessed if the service agreement is not satisfied.|
|•U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen •New Mexico residents •Be accepted into a Nursing program at a New Mexico public college or university •Enroll in at least (3) credit hours •Currently employed or declare intent to be employed as a nurse educator How do I apply? Step 1 Complete the Loan-for-Service Application: Step 2 Request school certification Step 3 Send complete application to New Mexico Higher Education Department If I am already on the program, do I need to reapply? Yes. If you are currently receiving funding from the Nurse Educator Loan-for-Service program, you will need to reapply by July 1. When is the deadline? Applications must be postmarked by July 1.
