The Samuel Griffin Seawell and Patsy Moore Seawell Memorial Scholarship was established in 2008 with a testamentary gift from Patsy Moore Seawell, an accomplished musician, teacher, and artist. The scholarship will support students from Forsyth County seeking graduate degrees in music-related or arts-related disciplines at one of the following institutions: High Point University, UNC School of the Arts, Salem College, UNCGreensboro, Wake Forest University, or Winston-Salem State University. The scholarship may initially provide up to two consecutive years of support in the amount of $5,000 annually to be applied to the cost of tuition, fees, room, board, and books
Additional Information
To receive consideration, applicants must: • be residents of Forsyth County attending High Point University, UNC School of the Arts, Salem College, UNC-Greensboro, Wake Forest University, or Winston-Salem State University • be seeking a post-graduate degree in music-related or arts-related disciplines with preference given to music-related disciplines. Examples might include: masters degrees in music, fine arts, music education, music performance, professional artist certificates, Doctor of Musical Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education • have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on most recent grade transcript • demonstrate financial need, but not restricted to lowest incomes • be enrolled a minimum of six semester hours, preferably nine semester hours at an accredited institution
