Established to provide financial assistance for college to high school seniors with learning disabilities.
Additional Information
Eligible to be nominated for this scholarships are high school seniors with learning disabilities, including problems with reading comprehension, spoken language, writing, reasoning, and organization. Nominations may be submitted by society members only. The nomination packet must include a completed application form, a letter from the student’s counselor or principal verfying senior status, verification of a learning disability from a school staff member, two letters of recommendation, a high school transcript, and a statement (up to 500 words) from the student describing how the award would be used. The following factors are considered in the selection process: the extent to which the student’s disability hinders learning and overall functioning in the school environment and the process by the which the student has overcome the barriers inherent in the learning disability in order to pursue postsecondary education.
