| To reward high academic achievement, the Commission administers Governor’s Scholarships that are earned by graduating Georgia high school seniors who are valedictorian, salutatorian, or STAR student of their class, or demonstrated exceptional achievement by being named a Georgia Scholar. The award is renewable for 3 additional years. | |

| Applicants must be selected by the Georgia Department of Education as a Georgia Scholar or named valedictorian, salutatorian, or STAR student from an eligible Georgia high school and be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate freshman at an eligible college in Georgia within seven calendar months following graduation from high school; Other criteria may apply. | |
