Description:
The State Grant Program divides the responsibility of paying for a student’s higher education between the student, parents, and government (state and federal). This is called Shared Responsibility. The calculation of your state award considers the amount of a Federal Pell Grant to which you are entitled. When applying for financial aid, you use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for both a Federal Pell Grant and state aid at the same time.
Additional Information
For Minnesota residents who: 1) are graduates of a secondary school or its equivalent; 2) are 17 years of age or over by the end of the academic year; and 3) will be enrolled as undergraduates for at least three credits at
one of more than 160 eligible schools in Minnesota.
