Scholarships for Women
If you're a woman, there has never been a better time to look at the advantages of a college degree. Why? The U. S. Department of Labor's "Education Pays" report makes the case that a college degree dramatically increases earning and career potential. Unemployment rates drop from over 10 percent to less than 5 per cent for women with a Bachelor?s degree or higher But even more important, thousands of organizations recognize the important and growing role (47 per cent) that women play in today's workforce. Scholarships are available to connect you and your unique skills with some of the best career opportunities in areas such as Human Resources, Information Technology, Healthcare, Education and Business Management. These scholarships are focused on breaking down barriers, such as childcare costs and other economic and social challenges, many woman face in continuing or getting back to school.
Scholarship Benefits
Scholarships, like student loans and grants, are investments in a student's future. Student loans are repaid, with interest, over a length of time. Scholarships and grants don?t need to be repaid, but recipients are expected to do well, renewing a grant or scholarship is usually dependent on a student?s performance in their initial year.

There are many college scholarships available to students who are members of groups who have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education, including women, students of color, students with disabilities, Native American students, older students, and students who come from less-privileged socio-economic classes.
College scholarships are available from a wide range of sources. If a student doesn't qualify for one particular scholarship, there are many other options he or she might be eligible to receive. Finding the right scholarship or scholarships can be an arduous task, but the financial payoff is worth it.
Field-specific scholarships are created to encourage students to go into fields which do not have enough qualified applicants to meet demand. Since STEM fields have been traditionally male dominated, there are many scholarships specifically intended for women who wish to enter the STEM fields, in addition to many more scholarships available to any gender.
Merit-based scholarships reward excellence. For traditional students attending college immediately after high school, admissions teams will look at the student's grades and participation in other school activities, as well as other signs the student will be successful in college. Non-traditional students, those who attend college after age 25-35, will be also be judged on previous school experience, but also on relevant work and life experience. Need-based scholarships are given to students based on performance, as well as the ability the student or her family has to pay for college.
